The color

Get ready for bold jewel tones this fall. The hottest tones to watch out for include cobalt blue, fire engine red, mustard yellow and eggplant purple. Color isn't just for tops and accessories, either.

Color blocking — the trend of placing two or more solid colors next to each other — vintage wedding accessories vintage wedding accessories will be huge. The trick to pulling off such vibrant colors will be to keep a few neutrals with each outfit. The nude heel will continue to be a vibrant dress staple you'll want to keep handy: It's a great way to elongate and accentuate legs.

necklaces, bracelets, headbands and earrings. To make the most of the bold color trend, try colorblocking outfits for a fierce, fearless look.

"Colorblocking is another huge trend," said Vicari. "An example would be a bright blue top over bright red jeans, or if you have a dress, it (could) be separated into three colors. For example, the pocket on the chest can be red, the top of the dress yellow, the bottom of the dress purple."

If you're concerned about making too bold of a statement, try two bold colors that pair well — a mustard yellow blouse tucked into a cobalt blue skirt — and add nude heels for a more conservative trendy look.

The top

Fluttery, flowy tops in both sheer and bold hues will be huge this fall. Also huge will be the fishtail style of tops cropped around the midriff area but longer along the back.

"The trend started last year and continues into the fall," said Vicari. "The hem at the front of (the) shirt is higher, cropped, and the back is longer. For people who are uncomfortable wearing a cropped top, they can easily wear a tank under it."

Popular tunic styles will include "geometric, Aztec prints, forgiving swing styles, wonderful layering pieces, lace and burnouts" and other pieces that make statements on their own, said Mary Jane Johnson and Amy Chappuis of Little Town in Lafayette.

Aztec prints and animal prints will not only be featured on flowy tops, but will also debut on wide-leg pants, said Vicari.

The bottom

Ditch the skinny jeans and embrace the wide or flared leg for fall. If looking shorter and wider concerns you, try a monochromatic look on top and bottom to create a longer in wedding dresses , leaner illusion. Another hot trend for fall is bold color and color blocking, so don't be afraid to opt for a bold color combo.

For fall, Ricki O'Brien, owner of Ricki's in New Iberia, has seen lots of wide leg and flared bottoms, but she doesn't think the area is finished with the skinny jean. She does ultimately think the wider leg trend will hit the Acadiana area, however.

"I didn't know how the leggings were going to catch on," she said. "But everybody loves the leggings."

Because wide legged and flared jeans are hard to wear well for most body types the wedding dresses the wedding dresses, Vicari doesn't plan to carry the trend much in her store. She also doesn't see the trend carrying over into the spring season.

"I haven't seen the flare carrying over because the colored jean has made such a huge splash on the market that it stole the flare's spotlight," Vicari said.

Whether you choose the flared jean or the colored jean, one trend is definite: a higher waistline. Hip-hugging jeans and long camis are a thing of the past. Wear midriff-length tunics, tucked in blouses and thick belts to compliment higher waistlines.

The feminine

With the bold, daring looks of fall come the flowy, feminine blouses, perfect for tucking into wide leg pants and high-waisted skirts.

"Fall will bring lots of ruffles, feminine influence," said O'Brien.

"Lace is still making its debut in the evening wear and will carry over to the sportswear," said H.L. Cabral, manager of Ballin's LTD in Lafayette.

Flowy-fitting tops gained momentum last year and will carry over into fall fashions, said Vicari.

"What designers are doing to update the flowy look is make a cutout design in the back of the top," she said. "Most of these flowy tops are sheer with the intention to wear a tank under it, or a half tank in a print or bright color under for a pop of color. Or in L.A., Vegas and NY, what a lot of these girls are doing are wearing just fun bras under the sheer tops."

Skirts and maxi dresses will become even more popular in fall, adding to the feminine, flowy look. Don't worry about keeping your legs warm, the season's hottest hemlines will be below the knee or longer.

The shoe

The short and cozy bootie will replace the mid-calf to knee-high boots that dominated fall and winter footwear for the past few years.

Three popular bootie styles will emerge for fall: the short suede bootie, the lace-up suede bootie with a small heel and the hidden wedge suede lace-up bootie. Other popular shoe trends will include flat, comfy riding boots, animal print and bright-colored flats and '70s-style platform shoes, said Vicari.

"Socks, lace-trimmed worn with clogs and booties" will emerge for fall fashion wedding dresses , according to Johnson and Chappuis.

Nude heels will continue to be a popular way to tone down bright evening dresses and skirts. Shiny, chunky pumps in all hues will also make a statement, but being matchy, matchy is out, so use the bold colors as a way to colorblock instead.

The cozy

Between the booties and the blazers, being stylish doesn't mean being uncomfortable. One of the biggest trends for fall outerwear, however, will be the cape or pancho.

"Capes (will) also make a big return for this year's colder months," said Cabral. "Capable of being mixed up and styled in several different ways, this is a style that will suit both high fashion and those days when you just want to throw something on."

Use bright blazers and capes as part of your colorblocking technique, Vicari suggests. She has been stocking up on three basic jackets and coats.

"No. 1: the flowy, woven long cover up," said Vicari. "No. 2: blazers. I'm getting these in several colors: red, navy mermaid wedding dresses 2012 mermaid wedding dresses 2012, cobalt blue. No. 3: an unlined motorcycle type jacket with a drapey collar."

In addition to anything fur, lightweight, bright jackets in textured or cotton prints will be huge this fall, according to Johnson and Chappuis.

The accessory

Expect lots of fringe for fall. Feathers are on their way out, and in their place you'll find fur.

Purse trends include "slouchy, large braided, woven, suede cross-body hobos with fringe, snake skins in deep, colorful tones, men's necklaces " said Johnson and Chappuis.

Other accessories you can expect to see for fall include oversized brim hats and felt fedoras; headbands with feathers, flowers and metallic trims; wide-cinched belts with tassels and fringe wedding dresses , fabric bow sashes or metallic link chains; and scarves in geometric silk prints with fringe, according to Johnson and Chappuis.

"Fall trends are very '70s-inspired," said Cabral. "It's all about fun prints, high waists, wide legs, soft blouses and bold, chunky accessories." Use look-at-me necklaces and bracelets to colorblock and contrast with outfits. A necklace and bracelet with large mustard yellow stones can be worn with an eggplant maxi dress to create an edgy, elegant style. A thick, fur cuff can contrast with a sheer, flowy top.

Remember that high fashion doesn't have to mean ditching your current wardrobe for an entirely new one. Work with tops, bottoms and accessories you have and add a few fun pieces to create a stylish look that fits your personality. Don't be afraid to make a statement this fall and play around with bold jewel tones and funky accessories. If a fall fashion trend doesn't work for you, don't stress out. The trends will change as soon as you get comfortable with them.
