PE: What industry is Candy Bridal Paradise in; and what is your company’s key client base?

CS : I started Candy Bridal Paradise in March last year. Our target market is ladies young and old; no matter what your shape or size we have a variety to suit every woman’s needs. After high school, my parents could not afford to pay for further education; then in a certain newspaper I learnt that an elderly white couple was looking to sponsor a fashion design student in Pretoria. I called them immediately and told them I would hand in my resignation at the bank that I was working for. The next week I was already in Pretoria studying and I found myself around very rich friends but even though they looked fabulous. I always made sure that I am not going to let them see that I am walking around without a cent, I always told myself to always have confidence.

PE: What would you mostly want for your business?

CS : I would mostly like Candy Bridals to be considered a lifestyle brand. I would like to empower married women. This is especially to make them realize that they should not lose their identity and the need to feel beautiful and confident. They should not neglect themselves; in order to be beautiful and be a model they don’t have to be a size 32-beauty comes in different shapes and forms!

PE: Lastly, where do you see the future of Candy Bridals in the future?

CS : I see myself building a national and international brand for Candy Bridals, a brand that people all over the world would want to be associated with. Candy Bridals will soon be opening in one of the biggest malls in the Free State, and soon in other areas in South Africa.
